Suspended above the flooded floor of the Wapping Project’s boiler room, Yohji Yahamoto’s oversized wedding dress hangs illuminated in the near dark. Part of the V&As Yahamoto retrospective, this site specific installation uses lighting and music to create a meditative mood.

A boatman picks up visitors at 15 minute intervals, rowing them out to the centre of the water, where an enormous hat, part of the original piece, floats freely. For decades Yahamoto’s work has challenged the accepted norms of fashion, pushing boundaries and inspiring creativity. This installation is running alongside ‘Women,’ also held in the Wapping Project and is open until May 14th.
