A designer in Canada has created clothes that can react and change shape according to their environment. During the rest of the summer Montreal based designer Ying Gao will exhibit her show entitled Art, Fashion and Technology at the Musee National Des Beaux-Arts Du Quebec in Quebec City. The exhibition includes 12 garments created by Gao which inflate, unfold and transform when reacting to noise, sound, motion or light. Her designs are inspired by natural elements such as air, and combine ideas of couture and intelligence, resulting in interactive clothing. She believes in highly conceptual fashion, and uses art, fashion and complex technology to explore ways that people relate to their environments. Gao's exploration of the links between art, fashion and science puts her at the forefront of contemporary design, alongside innovative designers such as Hussein Chalayan who is considered a pioneer in the world of intelligent design.
