The reinvigoration of the vinyl industry has taken many forms. We’ve seen records printed with 3D printers, DJs putting out handmade record players and even image sensitive, illustrated vinyls. Now Jack White has collaborated with Gibby Haynes of seminal, 80’s punks Butthole Surfers, to create a record printed directly onto old, medical X-Rays.

Taking inspiration from the method USSR dissidents used to smuggle contraband American music back home during the the Cold War, the three song single, ‘The Gibby Haynes Blues Series’ will be rather hard for fans to get their hands on, as it will only be available at the Third Man Records Rolling Record Store of the SXSW festival in Austin this March.

Still, how often to you get to hear a song someone has literally broken bones to create?
