The issue of space is one that affects most city offices, with many people being forced to hotdesk. To address this, UK design student Julie Berdou came up with WW, a concept that caters for mobile workers by placing mini, multi-purpose offices all across the city, offering workers temporary stopping points whilst on-the-move. The idea could suit freelancers who require a couple hours of work without having to visit an already overcrowded office or mobile workers trying to gain independence from a fixed work location and the accompanying high rental costs.

Berdou’s concept recently won her an RSA Student Design Award following the brief for a ‘future workplace’. Her designs boasts transparent cubes or walls where large touch-screen computers project images, presentations or company logos to let passersby know which brands are occupying the space. Berdou envisions WW appearing close to, or even inside tube and train stations, where people can find them via an app before paying a small fee to use the space.
