Online dating has become exceedingly popular but it’s often impossible to gauge how virtual relationships will transfer into the real world. Through Moondust, San Francisco design studio LUNAR’s program where senior designers present interns with a brief and ask for product-driven solutions, two interns have developed jewellery that add a personal, real world touch to online dating.

Wizz and Connect, developed by Marie Noury and Toby Stopper respectively, consist of a pebble-like pendant and a wearable charm bracelet, that pull information from various social media sites and dating platforms. When in proximity of someone with like-minded interests, the pendant buzzes and the charm illuminates, when a compatible match is nearby. Wizz aims to inject some spontaneity by bringing the digital features into the real world in an unexpected way.

While both are just concepts at the moment, Wizz and Connect show how digital conventions can be translated and be useful in the physical world.
