To promote the latest single, "Friends Listen" by Denver electro outfit ManCub London-based interactive artist Rajeev Basu has created an intentionally 'anti-fun' 16-bit game, that reflects the themes of waiting in line that are touched upon in the song. The game has users punch themselves in the face in order to stay awake. The less you punch yourself, the more sleepy you become, but be careful as you may punch yourself to death. The aim is to avoid falling asleep or death for as long as you can, with the opportunity to promote your scores on social networks.

The game has an old school aesthetic, taking obvious cues from Wolfenstein 3D. Similar to a recent campaign run by Old Spice, Waiting in Line 3D is testament to the fact that early-mid 90's graphics still hold a certain charm for many.

It's not your everyday way of promoting music, but with the internet flooded with music artists all trying to grab your attention, unconventional methods are proving to be far more effective than the traditional single/video formula.
