We love a good pop up, and the folks at advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy have announced plans to launch a 5 day pop-up event at their New York office. Flying the flag for the city’s local talent, the event will showcase 40 New York-based labels such as Burkman Bros, who count Kanye West as a fan. It’s the pairing of small brands and innovative agencies that keep us interested in pop-ups. The trend has been going strong for a while now, and while sometimes pop-up projects can be lost on the floors of Selfridges and the like, when in the right place it can really engage with the surrounding community. After the earthquake in Japan, food and art pop-up projects sprung up left right and centre across London and the results were awesome. Right next to Protein HQ is the pop-up shopping mall BoxPark due to launch this August. No longer individual spaces, London has taken on a hive of shops, cafes and galleries to resemble the community market feel that bustling cities are all about. Check out their website here for a sneak preview of what they’ve got lined up.
