Vinyl Me, Please
A new subscription service mails out vinyl records with an accompanying cocktail recipe that complements the music
Cassette tapes tend to be regarded as a kitsch relic of a bygone era while the main function of CDs has become eBay-fodder or as prodigious coffee-cup coasters. Vinyl, however, is yet to be killed off, and one company is offering a new subscription service that takes advantage of the resurgent consumer interest in tangible media.
Online content overload is increasingly putting the spotlight on physical objects as desirable items. Vinyl Me, Please acts as curator to would-be collectors, posting out records to subscribers along with an accompanying cocktail recipe designed specifically as a companion for each album. The company selects exactly which vinyls subscribers receive, but seems confident that it only picks records that are "too good to ignore," whether these are old, undiscovered, or brand new.
Cocktail recipes are provided by specialists at Vinyl+Cocktails and arrive on specially printed paper.
Hate music, love booze? Another subscription services that may be of interest is Shaken Cocktails, which delivers cocktail kits straight to your door once a month. Pharmacie, meanwhile, provides high quality socks 12 times a year for a fee.
