Vinetune
Using hashtags of lyrics in a song, Vinetune creates a crowdsourced music video from uploaded Vine videos.
Vine, the smartphone app that lets you capture and share looping 6-second video snippets, has been gradually building up steam over recent months and has already been adapted for use in all sorts of creative mediums, (this fashion show from French designer Andrea Crews for example, presented exclusively on Vine). Now Welsh electro band Masters in France have used it to put together a crowdsourced music video for their new single, Flexin’. In collaboration with developers Caleb Al-Jorani, Joe Kowprowski and Peter Browse they’ve set up a site that will allow future artists to do a similar thing.
Vinetune is a site that creates a music video by syncing the lyrics of a song to hashtags of search terms from Vine. It continuously evolves as more Vines are uploaded and so every viewing of the video, in theory, should be different. The project will feature a new video next month, with a new artist or band having their music video ‘Vinetuned’.
(Word of warning, potentially NSFW, Vine can be a naughty place).
