Delaware 'Type Foundry' House Industriesrebranding of the Richard Sachs bicycle frames is an interesting mix of diverse industries. It has enabled the font design brand to expand their work into the sporting industry and the results have produced an atheistically visual capsule collection called Velo. The collection is made up of multiple brands, with collaborations from the likes of Brooks England saddles, Tanner Goods as well as Tellason and includes bikes, parts, accessories, clothing and Velo Serif; a throwback font made up of a serif font in sixteen weights that works across all aspects of the collection faultlessly.

The font is used on the logo which features on the downtube of the Waterford of Wisconsin built frames. The frames are the classic Waterford style, made at the Schwinn Paramount Factory, timeless in design and elegant in style. The newly branded bikes keep this timeless spirit but simultaneously have a very contemporary look.

An exhibition displaying the capsule collection was held at Rapha’s New York Cycle Club. The idea of creating a capsule collection and exhibiting the products appears to pay homage to a more fashion led approach to design. The format of a capsule collection is very much something that is associated with fashion, interestingly here it has been applied to a completely different industry.
