We all now how much we hate queuing up to pay for our items, one of the things that has helped things move a little quicker, at least in the UK, is the introduction of contactless payments, which in case you don't know, lets you pay for items without typing in a pin. It's pretty handy, however a Swedish student has possibly made things even handier by creating a system where  payments can be made by having the veins in your hand scanned.
The configuration of veins in the human hand is totally unique to each person, and so offers the kind of personal identification and security necessary for financial transactions. Lund University student Fredrik Leifland explored the possibly with fellow classmates, and had a prototype, utilising the Quixster payment system, installed in several retail locations around his campus.

As it stands, there are fifteen shops and restaurants on the Lund University campus using the Vein Scanning prototype. Over 1,600 people have used the futuristic piece of equipment, and it has reportedly been more efficient than key pads, as it solves problems such as forgetting your pin or punching it incorrectly.
