Created by French designer Cosmografik, Type:Rider is an adventure game for smartphones, where players travel through the ages of typography. Embodying a plucky colon, (the dots, not the organ) – this is perhaps the only game in the world where the lead character is a punctuation mark, Cool Spot doesn't count. Players can manoeuvre their way through twelve typeface-themed levels, where they encounter popular fonts like Garamond, Helvetica, Times New Roman, Pixel and Comic Sans, collecting pages of a codex to move onto the next.

From prehistoric rock paintings to Pixel art of today, Type:Rider’s gamification of typography allows players to educate themselves in a captivating design-based environment. This isn't the first instance we've seen of a platform that blurs the lines between gaming and learning; recently Simogo published Device 6, a mystery-thriller app in which the written word is the game’s map and narrator.
