For the occasion of the 40th annual Roland-Garros, We Are Tennis and BNP Paribas, have launched Tweet and Shoot. The novel concept pits users in a virtual matchup against famed French tennis pro Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Via a simple interface on the on the We Are Tennis website, users are invited to devise 3 strategic shots. If the shot is among those chosen at random by the system, it is then reformulated as a tweet and launched off on May 23 for Tsonga to contend with. Meanwhile, users are encouraged to send good vibe tweets out into the ether for all Roland-Garros players, using the hashtags #tweetandshoot and #40a.

Giving users a chance to interact, physically, with a national event over social media, rather than simply comment on them, suggests an interesting evolution of the platform.
