Last weekend saw the opening of the Turner Contemporary museum in the English seaside town of Margate. The event was hosted by artist Tracy Emin and musician Jools Holland and renowned architect David Chipperfield designed the white-fronted shed-like buildings.

As an area which lacks an avid art scene, connections with Tracy Emin, who was brought up in Margate and Turner, who painted here have put Margate firmly on the arts radar.

Turner Contemporary will debut with Revealed, a show including work by J.M.W Turner himself alongside six contemporary artists: Conrad Shawcross, Russell Crotty, Teresita Fern√°ndez, Daniel Buren, Ellen Harvey and Douglas Gordon.
