Solar Paper is the world’s thinnest, lightest and most portable solar charger
Solar Paper is the world’s thinnest, lightest and most portable solar charger Yolk’s Solar Paper is a solar panel that provides a viable, portable solution for charging devices when out – existing solar chargers are out there, but these are large, often ugly, and inefficient. In contrast, Solar Paper’s slick 1.5mm thick design means it weighs less than an iPhone and can fit between the pages of a notebook – yet can still charge an iPhone 6 or Galaxy S3 in just 2.5 hours. Each of the photovoltaic cells is able to generate 2.5W of power. But if this isn’t enough, or it’s cloudy outside, just attach another – the modular panels can be clicked together by embedded magnets in order to create a customisable charger, depending on the device you’re using. The basic model comes with two panels and is able to charge your phone at the same speed as a wall charger. The charger has a host of features that make it easier and more convenient to use than competitors’ devices, including a feature that means that – unlike other solar chargers – it doesn’t need to be reset every time it becomes momentarily cloudy. Due for release in October, it’s set to be incredibly popular – with still 20 days to go on its Kickstarter campaign, Yolk has managed to raise almost $700,000, exceeding its target of just $50,000. We’ve seen a variety of new technologies and products recently that aim to make sustainable living easier than ever. These include Growduce, which allows users to make their own eco products, and Sustain:Green, an earth friendly credit card.Still hungry for more?
