It's a Monday. It's cold, payday is a week away and the next vacation is probably still a while off. On the supposed most depressing day of the year, Juice brand Tropicana attempted to brighten up the morning of central London commuters with a giant glowing artificial sun.

Passers by were greeted with a mass of illuminance an hour before sunrise as part of the brand's 'Brighter Mornings' campaign. Weighing in at 2.5 tonnes and clocking around 210,000 watts of power, an artificial sun lit up the centre of Trafalgar Square on Monday. A collaboration with public art group greyworld, the innovative installation took six months in the making.

This was Tropicana's second installation of this kind, with the first appearing last year in a small Arctic village in Canada's Northwest Territories. Take a look at a film of the London installation above.
