As the world becomes increasingly virtual, there’s a push to make technology not just what you can see and hear, but what you can feel. Created by GSP Beta Labs, the innovation arm of San Francisco agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Touch Room is an app for iPhone that “keeps your loved ones within arm's reach.”

Disregarding the possibly unsavory connotations of something called a Touch Room, the premise of the app is to put you and a loved one or friend in the same room, virtually. To start, enter your name to create a Touch Room, invite others to join, and watch their touch points move about on the screen in real time. When fingertips “touch,” the iPhone vibrates establishing a physical connection between you and the other user.

As we’ve seen with products like Tactilu, consumers are looking to bring a more tangible, physical element to their virtual realm. We are human after all.
