Fashion photographer Tommy Ton, caught Kanye West's performance at MoMA's annual charity event Party in the Garden earlier this week. Ton's seminal street style blog Jak & Jil has been at the forefront of fashion visual journalism for a hot minute, his insightful profiling work has captured some of the fashion world's most interesting editors, models and fashion week aficionados working today. One of our favourite elements of Jak and Jil is his everlasting fascination with shoes, capturing them as objects of high art. Not familiar with his work? Click here to get to know.   Kanye was joined by Jay Z on the night of his performance (a nice surprise for partygoers). Jigga isn't featured in Ton's photographs but the photographer managed to capture one of hip hop's more relevant faces in a collection of textured and highly saturated images. The rapper emerges from smoke like a mythical creature, pulling together Kanye's running theme of God-like figures and angels in his music videos. On the night, Mr West also took the opportunity to apologise to his fans at the event. Something about his ego…?   Kanye's continuous role as a purveyor of modern art, transcending his output from music into film, fashion and art has spurred on collaborations with Louis Vuitton (on a sneaker range), to album artworks and a series of exclusive silk scarves with artist Georde Condo and M/M Paris, released via Colette just last month.   Check out the snaps here.
