The internet is awash with new music. Oftentimes it can seem as if a new and unmissable track is released every day. In these overwhelming circumstances it’s easy to understand why a consumer’s ability to appreciate entire albums, or curate personal playlists has diminished significantly.

Paris based website The Week Song counters this advent directly by releasing one new song each week from a different independent artist. It’s founder, Adrien Moret states that, “87% of existing music is not listened to”. The accompanying app The Best Song, serves to reaffirm Moret’s intentions. Available on both Android and iOS, the app acts as both a streaming service that connects artists to labels venues and brands, while also allowing users to swipe through hand picked tunes until they find one to their liking.

All of the artists featured on The Week Song will be relatively obscure, meaning that Google searches on them will be futile. In order to foster a sense of discovery and ‘love’ for new music, the site requires visitors to subscribe in order to receive a biography of the artist and a link to related music.
