Building on the Miadidas project have again teamed up with NASH MONEY to customise a pair of adiPower Barricade trainers to enable them to display tweets. Embedded with an Arduino unit, an external LCD display and LED lightning, adidas claims these trainers represent the future of athlete connectivity'.

They're currently on display in the adidas Media Lounge - where they were first previewed to the Olympic athletes - and you can interact with them by tweeting @adidasbarricade.

Although it's evidence of the increasing intersection between sports and social media, and reiterates the prominent role social media played in London 2012, it's hard to imagine these trainers having much currency outside the Media Lounge.
