Truly good food is about more than just taste. Yes, it may be the most important sense involved in dining, but the others play their part. A well-crafted meal will not only be flavorful, it will also have an agreeable texture, an inviting smell and an attractive appearance. (We'll admit it, the sound of food may be slightly less important.)

The Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, also known as MART for the less linguistically adventurous, is celebrating visual aesthetic in food with The Food Project. The Shape of Taste, a multifaceted, hands-on exhibition that runs until June 2, 2013. The exhibition boasts a bouillabaisse of 'food designers' including Protein favorites Bompas and Parr, FormaFantasma, Martí Guixé, Konstantin Grcic and Philippe Starck, and includes everything from lectures and workshops to graphic interpretations of foods, some of which can be seen below.
