To promote, and garner more submissions for The Poundshop 6 and 7 coming up in September and December, the online budget design store will be hitting the road this summer with a selection of its best products and a pop-up shop designed by Studio Good One.

Set up in 2010, Sarah Gotlieb, George Wu and Sara Melin - on the back of a joke about pound shops and a shared fondness for design - challenged themselves to create the first ever design pound shop. Their aim was, and continues to be, to provide a platform for designers to sell their wares under the strict price points of £1, £5 and £10 and thus spread design to a wider audience.

The first port of call will be Queen Mary University on 23rd June for High Street 2012, then the London Festival of Architecture on 24th June, Cargo on July 12th and then on to the Secret Garden Party festival19th - 22nd July.

Yet another instance of the ubiquitous pop-up phenomenon, The Poundshop is a mutually beneficial endeavour that gives up-and-coming designers vital exposure and a testing ground for new products, and engages those who may presume that these sorts of objects are beyond their reach.
