Belgian design studio Unfold has created a series of 3D printed ceramic tools that dilute and diffuse perfume. Revisiting the transformative process of alchemy, the tools have been created especially for the launch of Barnabé Fillion's perfume brand The Peddler, that concentrates on the experience of scent through temporary events and exhibitions.

Exploring how ceramics absorb, store and release a perfume, Unfold created tools that dilute the perfume and a diffuser that absorbs the liquid and dissipates the scent. All are printed from fine layers of ceramic, using a specific 3D printing technique Unfold developed in 2009. Amongst the tools are a carafe that holds distilled water, a receptacle for alcohol and a high necked flask, pipette and funnel to dilute and mix the perfume. According to the design studio, the small machines in the installation invite people to be involved in the process, putting a real emphasis on the ritual and the experience of perfume.

Revealing the process behind our daily used beauty products, the Peddler reminds us of Lauren Davies' The Alchemist's Dressing Table.
