The MOOV chair allows users to charge their phone through continuous movement. It’s a particular bane of modern life to board a bus or train bound for work or home, only to glance down at your phone and realise it’s entered a critical stage of low battery life. It’s at this point you realise that you won't reach your destination before your phone dies, disaster

In an attempt to head this predicament off before it occurs, Dutch designer Natalie Tuegels has created the MOOV chair, a piece of furniture that allows the user to charge their phone through continuous movement.

A USB slot can be found conveniently placed in the armrest, allowing for easy access to the device, then, as natural restlessness creeps into your behaviour while sat down, your phone charges. In built sensors in the chair and piezoelectric crystals work to allow human energy to be converted into electricity.

It could be assumed that this intuitive effort was created with office workers in mind, given that they spend up to eight hours of any given weekday sat down, but never actually completely inactive.

It’s not yet known how long the chair takes to charge a phone completely, but the MOOV chair also comes equipped with a handy charger pack which stores your energy whether you’ve a device connected or not.
