Check out Mediamesh, the LED laden material that transforms buildings into virtual works of art.   This metallic ‘fabric’ is cropping up on buildings all over the world and is now set to feature on the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. Its woven stainless steel cable mesh is fitted with LED lights and controlled using the internet to form a media savvy platform of unprecedented scale. For the Port Authorty terminal, it provides a priceless solution to managing exhaust fumes from the building, as well as providing a much welcomed revamp to the terminals exterior. Mediamesh has been developed by GKD-USA and the instalment at Port Authority will be their biggest undertaking in New York to date, offering a 6,000 square foot ad space over the busiest bus station (by volume of traffic) in the world. The material’s uses for advertising isn’t the only point of interest; Californian State University library is currently using it to showcase artwork from Narduli Studio (check it out here), and the multi-media fabric is fast becoming the go to for those looking for an alternative way to augment and bring to life the exterior of buildings across the globe. The possibilities this opens for digital art work is vast and echoes the work of Evan Roth; one of the leading internet artists out there to date.   Go to the GKD website to see some Mediamesh projects in action.
