Design studio Atelier Ted Noten has collaborated with Laikingland to create The Lady Killer Vol.1, a new jewellery box with a difference. At a touch of a button the mechanical seducer springs to life and extends a robotic arm holding a single precious ring to a lucky recipient. The piece is modelled from Noten’s 2004 exhibition piece Unstaged, where an industrial robot guards a safe holding just a single ring. We’ve seen many designers using machines to try and capture the human movements of a hand drawing and now it seems that the mechanical world might also hold the key the uncertain game of romance. We look forward to seeing what The Atelier Ted Noten will bring us with the second volume of this exciting project.
