The windows of buildings on Hoxton Square in London are getting an artistic makeover thanks to The Hoxton Window Project. A project by creative production company unit9 commissions visual artists to paint the windows of buildings that overlook the famous East London square. For the most recent display in the series Unit9 has enlisted the aid of talented illustrator Simon Silsbury, whose impressive portfolio of artwork boasts projects commissioned by Nike, Virgin, Cobra beer, The Sunday Times and more. Watch him in action in the video above. The venture is designed to create an exhibition space simultaneously showcasing the work of the artists as well as inspiring the local community. Previous artists who have contributed to the window displays include McBess, Paul Ryding and Jon Burgerman. We love the idea of using an unconventional surface to display artwork, and we hope to see more community projects such as these opening doors (or windows) for aspiring local artists.
