The Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam has collaborated with local fashion designers to decorate their rooms for a project entitled, The Exchange.
Focusing on the fashion aspect of interiors, eight designers and graduates from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) were asked to dress the rooms as if they were models. This brief was taken to all of the hotel's 63 rooms while managing to create an individual look for each.
With themes such as the 'eighties' and 'epaulettes', the interiors are animated by textures and compositions that push the boundaries. For the 'crinoline room', designer Sofie Sleumer created a larger-than-life bustle cage around a bed to emphasise the concept of 'dressing' the hotel. Following on from this idea, guests can also dress themselves or their own homes as the hotel has an on-site boutique. Curated by the design studio OPTIONS, the shop offers a selection of exclusive products that co-incide with the themes of the pieces presented by the AMFI students.
By embracing fashion in all aspects of design and retail, the hotel both encourages and inspires creative minds. An experience in itself, The Exchange provides a great platform for local designers and a chance for guests to explore the city's talent without leaving the hotel.
