Since the dawn of time, many men have pondered over the simple question: what came first, the chicken or the egg? But thanks to a new dining concept in East London we can now forego the science of this matter and instead focus on a far more pertinent issue: food and art.

The Art of Dining, a collective of enterprising young women, opened the doors to their new pop-up restaurant The Chicken and the Egg yesterday at The Horsebox Gallery in Hackney. Open for just three days, the restaurant promises to give diners a strong dose of the British countryside, and will provide a space where the culinary and artistic worlds collide.

A four-course meal, complimentary cocktails and an exhibition of illustrations and photographs by the talented Iain Maitland will be on show, as the intimate event explores the boundaries between food and art. The idea of bringing a rural element to East London's urban sprawl will be an interesting focus for the concept, and will provide an exciting theme to the nights of creative eating.

With progressively more and more successful pop-up eateries opening across London, The Chicken and the Egg displays the progression of these initiatives, as collaboration and an explorative dynamic promises a truly unique experience.
