If you're in Melbourne in the near future, a trip to visit new sweet shop The Candy Room should be on the agenda. Designed by the Red Design Group, an Australian company that aims to design creative and innovative retail spaces, the new space was created for sugar-free sweet importers Sweet Enough when they decided to branch out into physical retail.

The design of the store is like walking into a 3D version of a children's book. The walls are white with black lines adorning them akin to a children's picture book, the only flashes of color from the vibrant candy.  As Red explain, 'the concept of illusion draws the inner child out of the customer using a strong connection with childhood, fantasy, fiction and of course, sweets.'

It's a charming, one of a kind creation that puts The Candy Room on the map as a retail destination and experience. As more of us choose to shop online and forgo the stress of the high street, examples like this highlight the importance of creating innovative design spaces and making stores a real destination to engage with shoppers.
