Time is an intangible force. Yes, you can watch the hands tick away on the clock but it is impossible to feel time. Until now. The Bradley Watch is the new Kickstarter campaign from Eone Timepieces that aims to help the blind and visually impaired tell time through touch rather than sight.

Instead of traditional hands, The Bradley tells the time through two ball bearings. The bearing on the side indicates the hour, while the bearing on the face indicates the minutes. These are connected to the watch movement beneath the face with magnets. Even if the ball bearings are touched, the magnets snap the bearings back into place with a gentle shake of a wrist. With its minimalist design, The Bradley is as stylish as it is functional. The watch face is a durable titanium and bands are available in fabric, leather, or stainless steel mesh.

Nearly two years in the making, the timepiece was inspired by U.S. soldier Brad Synder, who lost his sight from an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan. This tactile timepiece grants a degree of autonomy back to those in need. With the Kickstarter campaign reaching nearly double its goal, it appears The Bradley should be making it’s way to consumers in the near future. As we saw with Life, these tactile objects not only improve the lives of the visually impaired, but can be equally appreciated for their design and style by those with sight.
