The Big Yellow Rabbit is exactly what it sounds like.

In the Swedish town of Örebro, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has built a 13 metre high sculpture of a yellow rabbit. The towering structure looks like a giant child has dropped its equally huge cuddly toy in the middle of the town’s plaza.

Hofman built the curious installation piece as part of the town’s annual OpenART Biennale, an outdoor exhibition that changes the cityscape - and his artwork certainly does that. He created the sculpture using only locally sourced materials and with the help of over 20 volunteers.

By manipulating the scale of the childhood cuddly toy and placing the object prominently in the historic town square, he challenges people’s perceptions of public space and the functionality of every day items.
