The Alchemist's Dressing Table
Removing chemicals and hidden ingredients, this DIY make-up set offers transparency in all senses of the word.
In an industry constantly seeking chemical-free, organic, and natural products, Royal College of Art graduate Lauren Davies has come up with a fairly radical DIY make-up tool kit to allow complete transparency and personalised, home-grown cosmetics for the beauty sector.
The Alchemists Dressing table would allow users to create all their make-up essentials; a distiller for floral waters and essential oils; a kohl plate for eyeliner and mascara; and a scent infuser that macerates plants to make creams and balms.
Davies believes the industry needs more of the ‘three Ts’ – truth, transparency and trust, and by allowing the ‘modern woman to be more in control of what she uses on her skin’ she’ll be working towards achieving this. As increasing number of DIY kits have become available recently, (mobile phones, speakers) and it’s refreshing to see the trend transfer to the cosmetics industry in such a clever and well-executed project.
