On 26th May, Tangible Txts, an exhibition that conflates the modern medium of text messaging with the more traditional art of the letter press opens at Hoxton’s Standpoint Gallery.

Born out of a mutual love of the letter press, Live In Print, the organisation responsible for the concept, is made up of graphic designers Christian Holland and Josh Riley, printmaker Graham and web developer, Darren Clark.

They invited people to submit words and phrases from discarded text messages, then chose their favourites to make into unique letter press prints which will be exhibited. The images on the prints will eventually be used on a new range of homeware products, too.

Executed with a touch of idiosyncrasy, tangible texts is a cute and simple idea that immortalises fleeting words and thoughts as well as fostering a working relationship between old and new conduits of communication.
