This week saw the launch of Strongroom Alive, a new community radio station in East London.

The Strongroom brand is far from being unknown as it has been active for more than 25 years as a recording studio and bar. Located in the heart of London's music and arts scene, the Strongroom has started a new radio station which welcomes its neighbouring creatives to get involved.

Strongroom Alive will broadcast all that is new and upcoming from a range of collectives within the world of music, fashion and art. Among guest mixes from collectives such as Pure Evil Gallery and Dazed & Confused, Strongroom will also include interviews with the local creatives to strengthen its community outreach. The station will also be broadcast online, which not only showcases London's talent globally but will cement Strongroom as an outlet for the community.

In the age of the online music, community radio has seen a recent revival with sites such as Soundcloud and Grooveshark encouraging a more DIY attitude to music and broadcasting. Building on the digital and traditional ideas of radio, the Strongroom aims to reenergises a great sense of pride and community that will bring listeners and creatives closer together.

The station will be broadcast on FM and Freeview for 28 days and online thereafter. For more information, visit the Strongroom Alive website here.
