FEELS has launched the world’s first app introducing new talent to the fashion community. In collaboration with Storm Model Management, young technology entrepreneur Dawson King is bringing the concept of street casting to a wider digital audience. Now, wannabe models and fashionistas can share their photos, enabling brands to select talent for castings and campaigns.
Having launched this month, FEELS – an Internet term for “feelings,” generates an opportunity for fashion enthusiasts. “Unlike Instagram and similar applications, FEELS allows users to upload full resolution images which brands can then download for editorial and commercial use – we take away a lot of the quality and copyright headache for them,” says King. “For street casting, mobile makes perfect sense as consumers are already in effect 'modelling' for brands on social media; we simply act as a platform between the two.”
Additionally, FEELS enables brands to monitor current trends and gives those looking to be scouted an opportunity for industry representation. “Right now we're focusing on fashion-modelling,” continues King, “however, we want to be a platform for allemerging talent and in the summer will begin to allow musicians and bands to upload their music and session videos into the app.” Net-A-Porter’s newly launched e-commerce fashion app, Net Set, similarly bridges the gap between client and consumer - allowing users to share looks and images alongside brands. With the influx of smartphone technology, fashion industry specialists are finding new digital ways to engage with audiences.
