After being named designer of the year at the Wallpaper 2012 Design Awards, Tokyo and Milan-based design group Nendo is currently putting on a duo of exhibitions in Paris as a part of Maison & Objet.

Running until the 17th March at the Galerie Pierre-Alan Challier is Object Dependancy, where a selection of fourteen pieces look to invert the practical and functional elements of furniture. Carpenters Workshop Gallery is also playing host to Static Bubbles, a collection of poured and blown molten-glass tables as well as a series of sculptural objects fashioned from agricultural wire.

Currently celebrating their tenth anniversary, Nendo has come a long way in establishing itself as one of the most innovative and playful design studios. As usual, the work on show in Paris is at first sight disarmingly simple, however on secondary inspection clever in both creation and concept.

We caught up with Nendo's Oki Sato during London Design Festival last September to find out more about his approach to design.
