Writer, artist and games designer David Calvo has worked with les éditions volumiques to create an interactive comic for the iPad. Starlay  tells the story of a seahorse’s search to find his lost girlfriend, Starlayte, so he can have her seahorse babies and every couple of days, the app  unlocks more content revealing Starlay’s quest for true love. Much like A Clockwork Orange and The Silent History, Starlay is another solid example of the ways in which books, comics and mags are expressing themselves in more innovative and digitally-minded ways, and pushing the boundaries of the reading experience. Calvo’s intrinsic interest in themes of love, frailty, wonder and discovery give this seahorse saga a deeply human slant, too.
