Sonic Water
Soundwave's disruption of water offers visitors the rare chance to see the things they normally can only hear.
What can sound look like? Sonic Water is an installation that explores sound in visual form. Designed by Sven Meyer and Kim Pörksen for Olympus Photography Playground in Berlin, Sonic Water presents a visual manifestation of the patterns we hear but don’t often see. Visitors are able to interact with a cleverly light vessel of water placed inside a speaker. Using clever lighting, vibrations produced by the speaker create fascinating water structures which are simultaneously projected for the viewer. Visitors may manipulate the patterns though adjustments to the frequency and fluids added to the water. The installation demonstrates the transformative properties of sound and the balance between chaos and order.
Sonic Water is now on display at the Olympus Photography Playground in Berlin until May 24th.
