Last Friday saw the launch of On Plate, Still Hungry, a new online food, drink, travel and culture magazine that share meals, stories, interviews and ideas on the daily.  To coincide with this live launch, our gallery 18 Hewett Street hosted a new exhibition, 'Something I Ate',  where 47 of our favourite London-based people across food, drink, music, media, art, fashion, film and photography documented a week’s worth of eating. Each participant sent in 3 photos a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner - all in all 987 photographs of the good, the bad and the tasty. The data was collated, analysed and represented through a series of data art pieces designed by Protein for the exhibition.

For the opening night, Something I Ate's New York chef Sam Kim flew over to create a mini menu inspired by the individuals and the food data collected. To represent the participant's coffee habits, for example, she created 'Earl Grey milkshakes with whipped cream and espresso salt', while to represent the unhealthy breakfasts we scoff over the weekend there was the 'Full English breakfast frittata'.

The night was great - loads of people came down to enjoy the Red Stripe, check out East London's eating habits, listen to music by Earnest Endeavours and enjoy some amazing canapes.

The show's up until Sunday 6th May so make sure you come down and check it out for yourself. And if you fancy buying some of the work from the show, just head over to our store.
