Catalan designer Martí Guixé has designed a solar-powered kitchen restaurant. Teaming up with culinary expert Antto Melasniemi for the project, Guixe has created Lapin Kulta, a restaurant that relies solely on renewable energy from the sun to cook meals. Chefs utilise two concentrated solar discs to fuel the heating and cooking of dishes. This technique of food preparation makes the food’s taste and texture differ to traditionally cooked food, creating a new eating experience. The solar kitchen was first unveiled during Milan Design Week. The project is a step forward for green gastronomy, encouraging the use of alternative, eco-friendly energy in every day activities. We hope to see more conceptual ideas with practical applications that help promote a greener environment.
