Deus Ex Aria let's you perform commands with just the flick of a wrist
“Everyone has dreamed about controlling things with their minds,” explains Deus Ex Aria’s creator Alfredo Belfiori. “And that’s how we started. The next step was to transform this into a product.” The resulting device is not quite mind control, but it comes close: simply raising the hand activates the sensors, enabling the smartwatch to be used completely hands free, so you can reject – or accept – a call without interrupting what you’re doing.
The device takes the form of either a watch strap for Pebble devices, or an attachable clip for Android. Commands are performed through finger gestures, and by detecting the movement of the tendons in the wrist these gestures are recognised by the watch as commands to either scroll, select or go back.
It’s a Bluetooth compatible accessory that can be connected to other existing Bluetooth enabled devices. And the creators have made sure the software is open source, so future developers will be able to make use of the technology They can go up to twenty recognised gestures, but for now they’re limiting it to five in order to simplify the user experience. Deus Ex Aria is currently on Kickstarter to raise money for production in the beginning of next year, and has already exceeded its target.
