The Smart Student Unit is a compact living environment created by the Swedish architectural firm Tengbom. Designed in collaboration with individuals from the University of Lund, the unit was constructed to provide an inexpensive housing solution for the city's university students.

Created using locally sourced, sustainable materials and built using ecologically friendly manufacturing processes, the Smart Student Unit provides a complete living space for half the price of an average room. The cosy living quarters measure only 10 sq m (108 sq ft) and includes a dining area, kitchen, study desk, bathroom, a swinging lounge, hammock, and a small outdoor patio. While the unit is so far only intended as student housing, future development of this project into providing cheap and eco friendly spaces for other uses are potentially limitless.

Reminiscent of Cricklewood’s Mobile Town, the Smart Student Unit achieves much with extremely limited space, using big ideas combined with innovative, streamlined design.
