Companies across a spectrum of sectors from healthcare to entertainment are waking up to a fact that the city boys have known for years - there are big wins to be made from big data. For our latest forum, we are looking at the ways that data is being used as a raw material for developing new products and services. With ideas like smart homes, the internet of things and the quantified self becoming broadly understood, we will be examining why consumers are starting to care about data and the opportunities (and pitfalls) that are opening up for brands to become sources and custodians of valuable data. We’ll also explore the idea of data as a form of content in it’s own right and look towards the future of data as entertainment.

To tie in with Signal Noise's Art of the Algorithm exhibition for London Design Festival, we're holding a forum investigating the ever expanding potential of data. Signal Noise x Protein Forum: Performance, Profit and Privacy: Making Dollar out of Data, will take place on Tuesday 23rd September from 19:00 to 20:30 at our Studio 2 space, tickets are available here.

Speaking are:

Joss Langford, author of Data to Life, a radical new roadmap for collecting and handling personal data that protects the interests of both individuals and businesses.

Paul Joyce, CEO of Gekoboard,  a real-time dashboard that puts all your key data in one place.

Matthew Falla, Managing Director of Signal Noise, an independent information design agency, helping clients understand and visually communicate data and content.
