Design Miami continues to bring interesting collaborations, like Fendi’s Transformations, which we covered earlier this week. As brands keep exploring ways to become more eco-friendly, unusual projects like Elle Decor and Jens Praet’s ”Shredded,” shown in Miami, push the boundaries for how we re-use materials.

Belgian designer Praet used 141 lbs of old issues of Elle Decor to create a bookshelf, coffee table, bench and table. Shredded pages of Elle Decor were mixed with clear resin and then molded into furniture. The pieces are as sturdy as wood and were manufactured by Wandschappen.

Shredded is just the latest example of how we can re-use things found around us, like those piles of old magazines collecting dust, to construct desirable new products, as seen in our Scavenger Design briefing.
