‘Showtime’, an integrated public art installation created by interactive design agency Jason Bruges, has been unveiled on the facade of the new W hotel in Leicester Square.

The piece was created by mounting 8 cameras onto the hotel’s roof, which capture images that are pulled in by the software to create a time lapse movie of the previous 24 hours. The software is 100 per cent adjustable and constantly updating the facade- when a new image comes in, an old one drops out, with a list of 3,000 images operating at any one time.

These images are used to create short ‘performances’ of dynamic light that are then played across out over the hours of darkness. Using 600 lights, diffused through fritted glass, it reflects a panoramic view of the surrounding area that changes alongside its environment.
