Bristol is synonymous with street art. And now the city is about to host the UK’s largest ever street art event, See No Evil, this weekend. Work has already begun on the ambitious art project, with international artists painting murals over night. Ten of the city’s multi-storey buildings along Nelson Street are being transformed into permanent artworks with the aim to regenerate this grey area of the city centre and leave behind a legacy for the city. Top graffiti artists from New York, Los Angeles, The Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, and the UK have been taking over the city for the giant project which took over 12 months of planning. The event is culminating this Saturday with a massive New York-style block party with pop-up barber shops, live workshops, live music, street theatre and film screenings. The project was made possible by a collaborative effort between local graffiti legend Inkie, music promoters Team Love and the Bristol City Council. We hope to see more communities pulling together to enhance their city’s cultural heritage with projects like this.
