A collective of artists known as Greatest Hits are working with scent solutions company, Air Aroma, to re-create the fragrance of a freshly opened Macbook Pro for their upcoming exhibition in Melbourne’s West Space gallery.

Air Aroma, who specialise in assisting companies to incorporate scent into their branding strategies, asked their fragrance suppliers in the South of France to send over examples of fragrances that smelled of glue, plastic, rubber and paper. The Air Aroma fragrance designers then crafted a blended fragrance most similar to the fresh-out-the-box Mac. This, along with an un-opened laptop, was sent back to the fragrance suppliers for them to replicate the final perfume which is to be diffused in Greatest Hit’s De facto Standard exhibition.

By using scent as part of an artistic exhibition, it draws attention to the intergral role smell plays in memory and experience but also nods to the powerful experience Mac offers its customers.
