Just walked into the office? On your way you probably passed a building with its facade covered in unsightly scaffolding. These temporary structures are a necessary evil to urban development. But do they have to look so damn ugly?

Berlin-based designers Beta-Tank think not. They've created a series of scaffolding parts for an exhibition called Scaffolding Brut that aim to add a little glamour to construction. The parts are made from white porcelain and contain gold and silver nuts and bolts. As well as adding a little beauty to building sites, they also enable scaffolding to have other practical functions, such as holding bird houses and plant pots. It's all part of a bigger project about scaffolding and urban aesthetics that Beta-Tank are exploring, which will be presented in a book, also called Scaffolding Brut.

The exhibition is part of this year's London Design Festival and will be on shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum from 17th to 25th September. We'll be covering the most interesting and innovative stories from the festival in our Feed section. Stay tuned.
