The web 1.0 aesthetic is everywhere nowadays, something we discussed in our briefing a few months ago. With this in mind, we were interested to come across Paris graphic design student Alain Vonck's latest project, Ruins.

Ruins explore what remains of Web 1.0 out there on the world wide web, considering how the aesthetic can be revived or reinvented graphically. Vonck has been collecting, archiving and reusing snapshots of this internet aesthetic hidden online, both as an interesting graphics project and as a way of archiving the web's past as an editorial object. As he explains, 'Ruins allows us to visualise the internet of the past before the arrival of web designers and social networks.'

The project is a fascinating way of showcasing and exploring the bygone era of Web 1.0. Check it out here.
